Jacob Gilley
When it comes to buying or selling land, experience matters—and so does perspective. Jacob Gilley brings both.
Raised in Central Virginia, Jacob has spent his entire life working the land, studying it, and helping others make the most of it. Today, as a real estate professional with Gayle Harvey Real Estate, he specializes in farms, recreational properties, and rural land—helping clients confidently navigate some of the most important decisions they’ll ever make.
What truly sets Jacob apart is that he lives this lifestyle every day.
As the owner of JG Land & Livestock, Jacob and his wife Jennifer, along with their four children, operate a working livestock farm focused on sustainable and profitable production. From grazing management to direct-to-consumer beef sales through their Heaven’s Hollow Farm brand, Jacob understands firsthand what makes a property productive, efficient, and valuable.
In addition, Jacob and his family own and operate Stone Bridge Farm, a thoughtfully restored short term rental property located in Orange, Virginia along the Rapidan River. Purchased in March 2025, the home—originally built in 1882—was completely renovated while preserving its historic character and charm. Through this hands-on experience, Jacob has developed a keen eye for recognizing a property’s untapped potential and understanding how strategic improvements can significantly enhance both usability and value.
A graduate of Virginia Tech with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural disciplines, Jacob brings a rare blend of academic knowledge and hands-on experience. Before transitioning into real estate, Jacob spent more than six years with American Farmland Trust as a Senior Technical Livestock and Grazing Specialist. He worked directly with landowners across Virginia to implement conservation practices that improve soil health, water quality, wildlife habitat and overall farm profitability. During his time with American Farmland Trust, he became knowledgeable on conservation easements and conservation programming offered by local partners throughout the region. That same expertise now gives his real estate clients a distinct advantage.
Outside of work, Jacob is passionate about the outdoors and fully embraces the rural lifestyle he helps clients pursue. Whether hunting, fishing, hiking, or canoeing Virginia’s forests and rivers, he understands the recreational value of land just as deeply as its financial and agricultural potential.
As a military veteran, Jacob approaches every client relationship with integrity, discipline, and a results-driven mindset. He doesn’t just help you buy or sell land—he helps you understand it, improve it, and maximize its potential.
