Have you ever yearned for a riverfront home? Thought how much fun it would be to just hang out and "chill" down by the river? Escape it all and watch the river just slowly, gently flow by. Letting all your negative energy, release and flow with the river, away.
Or were your thoughts more in line with how much fun it would be to have all your friends and family gather at the river for barbeques and playing music without any neighbors to complain. You can even go skinny-dipping at midnight and noone would ever know (unless you told them)! Retreat back to the rear porch and sip Mint Juleps until the sun begins to rise over the river.
The tree-lined driveway welcomes you to Swanhilda, a circa 1731 home that has been improved and modernized over the years while still maintaining its lovely charms from yesteryear. So if it's too cold for hanging out at the river and on the back porch, "party central" can easily be moved indoors with everyone gathering around the fireplaces for warmth. There are eight in this house and all the fireboxes have been rebuilt and equipped with gas. The hor'derves can be flowing from the caterer's kitchen while your guest mingle throughout the circular floor plan of the kitchen, dining room, entry foyer and large living room. This isn't a home for stuffy parties, this is a fun place, filled with lots of laughter. If only those old walnut doors could talk, they would have everyone howling!
A few of your guests are from out of town, and they always love to visit your river farm. While the parties are always a blast, the real reason they visit is because they love staying in the old rustic Saddleback Cabin. They say it feels like living in the frontier days, when the settlers made explorations up the James River.
As with all good things, they must end, so as your last guest departs, you climb the stairs to one of the four bedrooms, two which are en-suite and prepare to go to sleep. As you gaze out your window and see all the twinkling stars, you think about how lucky you are to have all these wonderful friends and this fun and amazing farm.
Tomorrow it is back to work, feed the horses, dogs and chickens down at the barn. Thankfully the barn is modern and has running water and a heater & AC. How did they get everything done in the old days without running water? Oh, you are so lucky because not only do you have running water, this farm has DSL!!! How did you ever get so lucky to find this gem?
